Red Dog area find targeted for more drilling

Winter weather has brought drilling to a halt on a new high-grade zinc discovery of Cominco (CLT-T), 6 miles north of the company’s Red Dog mine in northwestern Alaska.

Among the better results from recent drilling was hole 810, which returned 240 ft. of 20% zinc, 5% lead and 4 oz. silver per tonne. These results follow a previously reported hole, which intersected an impressive 160 ft.

of 18% zinc and 5% lead.

To date the company has drilled nine holes on 400-ft. centres, with only one miss. Two additional holes were stopped short of their targeted depth and will be completed when drilling resumes next year. Significant flat-lying zones of zinc-lead-silver mineralization were encountered in an area measuring roughly 1,300 by 1,200 ft.

The mineralization remains open to the northeast, northwest and southwest.

Mineralized intercepts are summarized in the accompanying table: HoleFromToIntervalZincLeadSilver
