The president of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), William Stanley, will be the guest speaker Dec. 9 at the monthly luncheon of the Toronto branch of the CIM.
Stanley, a partner with The Coopers and Lybrand Consulting Group in Vancouver and a columnist with The Northern Miner Magazine, will speak on “Environmental responsibility: mining isn’t dirty.”
He graduated from the Provincial Institute of Mining at Haileybury in northern Ontario and earned his B.Sc. in mine engineering from the Michigan Technolgical University.
The luncheon will coincide with the Mineral Development Forum, which is part of a 3-day (Dec. 9-11) mines and minerals conference in Toronto sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.
Both the luncheon and conference will take place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Front St.
