The honor is in recognition of McOuat’s “conspicuous and dedicated service to the engineering profession,” and the citation describes him as “well known for his sound advice and good judgment.”
The name of the award comes from the Rudyard Kipling poem The Sons of Martha in which engineers are burdened and honored with the charge of providing the necessities of life.
