Summit video: Montage targets first Koné gold pour by year-end

Montage Gold (TSX: MAU; US-OTC: MAUTF) is targeting higher-grade satellite deposits to boost output at its Koné mine in Côte d’Ivoire, CEO Martino De Ciccio says.

Koné, about 350 km northwest of the country’s capital, Yamoussoukro, poured its first gold late last month, after this interview was recorded. Montage expects its oxide processing circuit to reach commercial production by year-end, the company said in a subsequent update.

“It’s quite rare to be able to explore while building,” De Ciccio told The Northern Miner. “So for us, a key value driver is and will continue to be exploration.”

Montage has identified 12 deposits at Koné, compared with two included in its 2024 feasibility study, which projected average annual production exceeding 300,000 oz. over the first eight years. Incorporating those discoveries into a revised mine plan is the next test of the company’s growth strategy, while Didievi and Wendé provide opportunities beyond its first operation.
