Osisko Development (TSXV: ODV; NYSE: ODV) accelerates brownfield projects with mechanization and environmentally-friendly underground footprints, CEO and chairman Sean Roosen says.

The co-founder of Canadian Malartic, the country’s largest gold mine, recalled how that project in Quebec cleaned up 15 local legacy mines. It’s a feat the company is also accomplishing at its Cariboo project near Wells, B.C., where mining dates to 1860. The project received an environmental assessment certificate last month.

Osisko gauges projects like they are real estate but they must make sense technically, Roosen said in a chat with Chris Hinde of industry newsletter Pick & Pen, at the recent Canadian Mining Symposium hosted by The Northern Miner in London.
