Global metallurgical services provider SGS is expanding its operations across the globe.

The company has announced it has fully funded an expansion at the metallurgical testing facility in Cornwall, U.K., at the historic Wheal Jane tin mine. The expansion will add more than 3,500 sq. feet of laboratory space and increase the company’s service capacity for Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. The expansion is expected to be complete by 2013.

The company has also opened its expanded, full-service geochemical laboratory in Medellin, Colombia. According to SGS, the lab is the first of its kind in the country.
