Query Slate Bay revived in 1980

What is the present status of Slate Bay Gold Mines? It was dissolved about 10 years ago but the charter was re-instated about eight years ago. H.K., Pacific Palisades, Calif.

You are correct in writing that Slate Bay Gold Mines of Toronto was dissolved and then revived. According to our records, the company had its Ontario charter cancelled in March, 1978, with the order reviving corporation issued in January, 1980. Although it has a gold property in the Red Lake area of northern Ontario, the company, according to a spokesman, is not currently active.

Slate Bay was formed in 1944 when it took over the assets of the Paul Martin Syndicate, whose main property was a block of 13 claims on Slate Bay at the eastern end of Red Lake, about four miles north of the McKenzie and Cochenour mines. The syndicate also had four patented claims in McDonough Twp. and nine unpatented claims and a 22.5% interest in another five claims in Hall Twp.

Slate Bay is a publicly held company and trades on coats (over- the-counter trading system). During April, 42,000 shares of the company were traded (no trading was recorded for March), with the last trade in April going at 2 cents per share.
