Six holes totalling 285 metres tested zone 70; all intersected mineralization consisting of pyrite, pyrrhotite and galena. The zone varied from 5 to 16.5 metres in width. Assays are pending.
The main gold structure, of which zone 70 is a part, is laterally folded over a strike length of 350 metres. Two mineralized shear zones appear to intersect near the zone. A trench was blasted prior to drilling, exposing sulphidized quartz veins, gabbro and sheared lamprophyre.
Zone 70 is in a 200-metre-long induced-polarization anomaly and was cut in these holes to a vertical depth of 30 metres. Past drill holes (situated 50 metres on either side of the zone) indicate the zone may extend to depths as great as 135 metres.
Discovery hole 70, drilled in February 2004, cut 40 grams gold per tonne over 13 metres.
Vantex is applying for permits to take a bulk sample from the property later this year. The Lake Expanse gold zones (A, AB, B and BC) have been cut at shallow depths of 15-50 metres. In the first half of 2004, drilling was highlighted by grades as high as 20 grams gold over 3.4 metres.
