Kodiak Copper (TSXV: KDK; US-OTC: KDKCF) is targeting a larger resource at its MPD copper-gold project in southern B.C. by March, CEO Claudia Tornquist says.
Recent drilling at the Ketchan deposit returned 283.5 metres grading 0.56% copper and 0.15 gram gold per tonne from 37.5 metres downhole, the company reported Sept. 9. The hole filled a gap in the existing resource model.
“And our focus, of course, in particular, is on near-surface mineralization and on high-grade mineralization, because that is what will be important as we move into economic evaluation,” Tornquist told The Northern Miner late last month at the Precious Metals Summit in Beaver Creek, Colo.
The planned 16,500-metre drill program aims to show growth potential of MPD’s seven deposits while testing additional exploration targets. For Kodiak, the challenge is to establish both the scale and grade needed to support a conceptual starter mine.
