Silver Standard hits high grade at Berenguela

Vancouver – Silver Standard Resources (SSO-T) has released silver assays including several high grade intercepts from the latest round of drilling at the Berenguela silver-copper-managanese deposit in which the company has an option on the silver resource.

Berenguela is situated 5 km west of Santa Lucia on the altiplano of southern Peru. Silver Standard is drilling the deposit as part of its option agreement with the owner of the property, Sociedad Minera Berenguela S.A. and Fossores Ltd. to firm up the historical silver resource and bring it up to National Instrument 43-101 standards.

Reverse circulation holes 33 57 in the West Block gave the best grades which are highlighted by:

  • Hole 40 – 54 metres of 520 grams silver per tonne, including 39 metres of 624 grams;
  • Hole 48 – 83 metres of 329 grams silver including 28 metres of 507 grams;
  • Hole 47 – 37 metres of 503 grams silver including 15 metres of 1,019 grams silver;
  • Hole 42 – 30 metres of 448 grams silver, including 10 metres of 1,109 grams silver.

Some 550 metres east of the West Block, holes 13-32 are collared in the Cerro Block which is open to the east and northeast.The true thickness of the mineralization has yet to be determined.The company has now completed 5,247 metres of RC drilling in 57 holes that verify historic grades of widely spaced holes and fill in the spacing at the two mineralized zones to prepare for resource categorization.

Silver Standard has not reported the copper results because they are not part of the company’s option agreement.
