Riverstone finishing up drilling, waiting for results

Thousands of artisanal miners have been digging shaft after shaft all over the Nami permit at Riverstone Resources‘ (RVS-V) Karma gold project in Burkina Faso since late last year prompting the company to drill hole after hole in the same area to figure out the mineralized system below the ground.

The company still has one diamond drill turning at Nami right now, but will soon be finishing up the drill program as the rainy season is about to start.

Riverstone has just finished up drilling 142 holes amounting to more than 7,000 metres with a rotary air blast (RAB) drill. The holes were drilled over an area of 700 metres by 850 metres immediately to the north of the newly active shafts.

The artisanal miners are focused on digging in an area that is about 150 metres by 450 metres.

Riverstone says these shafts appear to be west-northwest, whereas the mineralization on the main Nami site is northwest trending with northeast and east-west cross structures.

The RAB drill intercepted volcano-sediments and intrusive rocks similar to those that host the Nami mineralization defining a northwest striking ore body open to the north.

Shear zones within the intrusives are defined by anomalous gold values in rocks with silica, sericite, carbonate and potassic alteration, similar to those minerals seen within the main Nami site to the south.

Riverstone has also done some RC drilling at Nami. Highlights from the spring include 24 metres grading 4.67 grams gold per tonne, including 12 metres grading 9.45 grams gold per tonne. Some of the diamond drill holes twinned the RC holes so the company could learn more geological details.

Riverstone has been busy drilling on its four other more developed deposits at Karma. The others are Rambo, Goulagou I, Goulagou II and Kao, which collectively containe 820,500 oz. gold in the indicated category. And 320,300 oz. inferred.
