Junior Pinewood Resources (PNW-V) has begun drill-testing potential kimberlite targets in the Afridi Lake area of the Northwest Territories.
A low-level airborne geophysical survey by Geotemex Dighem detected six circular resistivity lows and at least five strong dyke-like magnetic highs on the 12,900-acre property, held 75% by Pinewood and 25% by Central Minera. Follow-up ground geophysics are being conducted prior to drilling.
Pinewood’s Afridi Lake property adjoins three boundaries of the Intertech Minerals (IML-V) and Kennecott Canada Exploration joint venture, where a series of diamondiferous dyke-like bodies were discovered in 1996, and where, more recently, a kimberlite body was intersected by drilling, 5 km west of the property boundary. Pinewood and Central Minera have committed $450,000 for the drilling program.
