NEWS IN BRIEF Drilling starts at Deak’s Magusi

An 18-hole drill program is under way at Deak Resources’ (TSE) Magusi base metal property, 25 miles northwest of Rouyn-Noranda, Que. The drilling will provide metallurgical samples and further delineate the zinc-gold and footwall copper zones within the deposit. Preliminary reserves at Magusi are estimated to be just over four million tons grading 1.79% copper, 3.02% zinc, 0.026 oz. gold and 0.84 oz. silver per ton. A prefeasibility study for the deposit suggests mining by ramp to 1,000 ft. Additional ore would be taken from the Hebecourt copper mine, 5,000 ft. to the east, by a combination of open pit and ramp mining. Ore from both mines would be processed at Deak’s mill at Virginiatown, Ont.
