A new nickel-copper-platinum showing has been discovered by Societe Miniere Mimiska (ME) on its recently optioned Contact Bay property near Dryden, Ont. Mimiska can earn a 100% interest in the claims by spending $100,000 over four years. Initial sampling of a massive sulphide zone has yielded 4% copper, 2.01% nickel and 0.05 oz. platinum per ton in grab samples. The sulphide zone, which is associated with an electromagnetic anomaly, has an apparent width of 40 ft. and stretches 2,400 ft. along strike, says Mimiska. Surface exploration is continuing and a drill program is planned for January to follow up the showing.
