I have read with interest the profiles of people who have been inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame (T.N.M., Jan. 14/91) since it started in 1989. There have been hundreds of people involved in mining in Canada over the years. I am sure it would be hard to sort out and name the people most worthy of this honor.
To me, the finding of mines and mining empires could be likened to spokes in a wheel. The prospector is usually the first spoke to make up the wheel, then geologist and on up the line doing their part to make things happen and make dreams come true.
One spoke in the wheel of mining in the early days was Ed Horne whose claim was acquired by Noranda, now one of the world’s great mining companies. I hope in the future he would be considered as a man who started the wheel rolling for one company years ago. Andy Horne, Blind Bay, B.C.
