Two Vancouver-based juniors are stepping up exploration work at three gold properties in northwestern Argentina.
Partners IMA Resource (IRU-V) and Oro Belle Resources (ORS-V) each own half of Minas Argentinas, which has been exploring the Salamanca, Flechas and Coipita properties.
* Salamanca — Situated 220 km north of the city of San Juan, this property occupies part of the 29,000-ha Guandacol project in La Rioja and San Juan provinces.
Results from the first four of seven holes drilled in the first phase are as follows:
Hole 1 intersected 16.5 metres grading 2.9 grams gold per tonne, including 5.3 metres grading 7.24 grams; hole 2 cut 62.2 metres grading 1.01 grams; hole 3 hit 3 metres at 0.14 gram; hole 4 intersected 36.4 metres at 2.15 grams, including 19.5 metres at 3.28 grams and 5.25 metres at 6.25 grams; hole 5 intersected 32 metres of 1.32 grams; and hole 6, which was lost and re-drilled as 6A, intersected 85.5 metres grading 0.45 gram, including 9 metres at 1.81 grams. Hole 7 was lost before the mineralized zone was intersected.
A second phase, to consist of 1,000-1,200 metres (8-12 holes) of both infill and stepout drilling, will begin in the next few months.
* Flechas — Lying in the gold belt known as El Indio (near the Chilean border), this property will be subjected to 2,000 metres of
reverse-circulation (RC) drilling.
The Flechas was selected as a prime target after sampling uncovered six zones of epithermal gold-silver mineralization. The program returned up to 3.9 grams gold and 500 grams silver.
* Coipita — Situated 40 km south of Flechas, this prospect will undergo geological mapping, sampling and trenching as soon as an access road is constructed.
