Vancouver – An independent resource calculation for the Donnelly zone on Canadian Gold Hunter‘s (CGH-T) GJ property pegs the contained ounces of gold at over a million and copper at over 740 million lbs.
The company’s GJ/Kinaskan property is located in northern British Columbia some 10 km west of the Stewart Cassiar highway. The claims encompass a 150-sq.-km area which hosts among other showings, the Donnelly, GJ and North zones.
At a 0.1% copper cutoff, 105.1 million tonnes averaging 0.32% copper and 0.32 gram gold per tonne were estimated to contain 1.1 million oz. gold and 741 million lbs. copper at the Donnelly zone.
At a 0.30% copper cutoff, the Donnelly zone contains 41.5 million tonnes grading 0.50% copper and 0.52 gram gold bringing the contained metals down to 457 million lbs. copper and 700,000 oz. gold.
The 340-metre wide zone, is still open in both directions and at depth where it has been drilled to about 200 metres.
Canadian Gold Hunter’s resource estimate is based on 13 holes drilled by Texasgulf Canada in 1977 and 1980 and ten drilled by the company last year, and covers a strike length of 1.1 km. The company notes that recent assay results corroborated well with the earlier work.
Starting this June, the company is planning to drill 15,000 metres in 40 holes to test the Donnelly zone to a depth of 500 metres in an effort to double the resource and upgrade much of it to the indicated category. The company expects to add resources by extending the Donnelly zone on strike as well. Another 15 holes are slated to test other targets.
The Donnelly zone is one of three significant gold-rich copper porphyry zones associated with the Groat stock on the southern portion of the property. The GJ zone and the North zone have been traced by wide-spaced diamond drilling for 800 and 500 metres respectively. Both zones are up to about 100 metres wide and are open in all directions and at depth.
