Fertilizer feasibility

Industry involvement will include Inco Ltd. (TSE), Falconbridge Ltd. (TSE) and Sherritt Gordon (TSE). In addition to phosphate, the manufacture of fertilizer also requires sulphuric acid which is produced as a byproduct of nickel- copper smelting at Inco and Falconbridge’s Sudbury operations.

A preliminary analysis was completed in 1987. The proposed study will expand on that work and will examine several locations including Sudbury, Timmins, Kapuskasing, Sault Ste. Marie and Wawa.
