Duration finds gold at Puiseaux

Duration Mines says it has discovered a new and significant gold zone containing appreciable copper and silver values on its 100% owned Puiseaux Twp. claims in Casa Berardi, Que.

While the company says its too early to make grade and tonnage estimates, the gold values occur in narrow vein systems (gold assays up to 5.5 oz gold per ton over 1.0 m) within a larger zone of low grade copper mineralization.

The company says 11 out of 14 holes have each intersected five to 10 anomalous to ore grade intervals within a mineralized area. These intersections occur over a minimum width of 150 metres.

According to President David Rogers, the Duration discovery zone has the outward appearance of the McIntyre Mine geology in the Timmins/Porcupine camp.

The first drill hole 86-001, which intersected visible gold, was drilled September, l986. Holes 86-003 to 86-010 were reconnaissance holes drilled in other places along the 20 mile property.

Holes 87-011 to 87-022 were drilled from February to April, l987 in the discovery area. Some of the the better intersections include:

Hole DDH 86-001 cut across 1.5 ft which averaged 0.18 oz gold per ton. Hole 87-015 intersected across 5 ft averaging 0.38 oz. Hole 87-017 which intersected a 4.6 ft section averaging 2.53 oz and Hole 87-021 averaging 0.19 oz across a 2.6 ft section.

The company says all holes contain several 0.5 to 1.5 m intersections assaying from 0.01 to 0.03 oz. The associated copper and silver values vary considerably. Copper values range from 0.1% to 1.0% copper and silver values up to 1.4 oz silver per ton.

Duration is carrying out reverse circulation drilling for bedrock and basal till samples, along 8 miles of favourable porphyry bracketing the discovery.

According to the company, fill-in diamond drilling in the discovery area and along strike will resume soon.
