Cash-rich Atlantic Goldfields moved up on moderate volume to trade at 61 cents -70 cents this week. The company had previously planned to amalgamate with Jascan Resources (TSE), but it now appears a battle for control has erupted between the two companies.

MacDonald Mines was a busy trader at the 50 cents -70 cents level. The company has a 49% interest in a Rouyn- Noranda area zinc-silver mine which could be re-opened.

After issuing a comical press release comparing a recently acquired exploration property north of Lansdowne House, Ont., with the Sudbury Basin, Southern Arizona Mining & Smelting has slipped lower to trade at 35 cents -40 cents . Pinetree Explorations and Caviar Resources were active at the 25 cents – level. The companies have reported some success on their property near the Golden Patricia mine west of Pickle Lake, Ont.
