New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland will jointly host the Atlantic Canada Rock Room at this year’s convention of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC).
The Rock Room will allow major and junior companies and individual prospectors to display maps, rock and core samples which explain and illustrate the geology of various mineral prospects in the region. The objective is to attract new partners or investors to explore these areas. Sponsors of the Rock Room include mining associations and federal government agencies from the region, as well as the three provincial mines ministries. The mines ministers of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, Donald Downe and Rex Gibbons, respectively, and New Brunswick’s legislative assistant to the minister, Albert Doucet, plan a symbolic signing of a claim post in the Rock Room at 5:30 p.m. on March 7.
Newfoundland Premier Clyde Wells will be the guest speaker at the PDAC awards banquet on Monday, March 7.
Elsewhere at the convention, core shack exhibits will include kimberlite samples from a number of projects, including Tli Kwi Cho, Yamba Lake and Exeter Lake in the Northwest Territories, Tobin Lake in Saskatchewan and Quebec’s Le Tac area.
