U.K.-based consultants AMEC (AMEC-L) have been pegged by Avanti Mining (AVT-V) to prepare a feasibility study for the Kitsault molybdenum mine in northern British Columbia.
AMEC was chosen from six bidders to prepare the National Instrument 43-101 compliant technical report at the mine and will act as lead engineer for all work at the project, aside from tailings and water management work which will be conducted by Knight Pisold, an international consulting company.
“We are very pleased with the technical capabilities of the team proposed by AMEC and the continued involvement of Knight Pisold,” said Craig Nelsen, president and CEO of Avanti, in a press release. “Working in conjunction with our debt arrangers’ independent engineer, this team will deliver a first class feasibility study which is expected to be completed in Q4, 2010.”
According to the prefeasibility study completed in December 2009, by the end of its 15 years of operation, a mine at Kitsault would have produced 368 million lbs. molybdenum.
