First Nickel slashes jobs at Lockerby mine

First Nickel (TSX: FNI; US-OTC: FNKLF) is cutting 109 jobs at its Lockerby nickel-copper mine in Ontario’s Sudbury basin, as part of a restructuring plan to lower costs, resume exploration and extend the mine’s life.

Price tag for Duluth’s Twin Metals nears US$3B

The release of a prefeasibility study estimating that its Twin Metals copper-nickel-platinum group metals joint-venture project would cost US$2.8 billion to build sent Duluth Metals (TSX: DM; USOTC: DULMF) shares tumbling by more than 25%.

Wallbridge to put Broken Hammer into production

Wallbridge Mining (TSX: WM; US-OTC: WLBMF) is building an open-pit mine in April at its Broken Hammer copper–platinum group metal project in Sudbury, Ont., and says production should start in June. Total capex is $1 million.
