Quebec boasts strong financing, fiscal incentives and abundant green hydroelectric power to attract projects, Jonathan Lafontaine, strategic advisor with the province’s natural resources ministry, says in a new video.

“There are so many items within the jurisdiction that work together and that sets the province apart,” Lafontaine said at The Northern Miner‘s recent Canadian Mining Symposium in London. “That’s the reason it sustains a high level of interest year after year.”

The province is involved in some $10 billion of critical mineral and supporting infrastructure projects that will help the region along the St. Lawrence Seaway become a battery metal processing conduit for automakers, he said.

Lafontaine also mentioned the province’s robust geo-science database, modern treaties with First Nations and diverse geology in his chat with Alisha Hiyate, editor-in-chief of The Northern Miner.
