Azimut Exploration (TSXV: AZM; USOTC: AZMTF) is fast-tracking work at its Wabamisk project in Quebec after fieldwork outlined a new surface target with visible gold, president and CEO Jean-Marc Lulin says.

The company plans to start drilling in mid-October as geophysics and prospecting firm up targets along the trend, the executive said last month on the margins of the Precious Metals Summit in Beaver Creek.

“We have a 200-metre strike length of visible gold at 10 spots along a 700-metre corridor that’s open at both ends,” Lulin told The Northern Miner’s Western Editor, Henry Lazenby.

The push at Wabamisk comes as Azimut advances several Quebec targets generated by its data-driven approach. That includes follow-up drilling on the Perseus nickel-platinum-group element discovery in partnership with Poland’s KGHM and a scoping study and new targets at the Elmer (Patwon) gold project, including ongoing drilling on the Zone 14 antimony-gold trend.

A separate lithium joint venture with Rio Tinto (ASX, LSE: RIO) in James Bay is progressing toward drill readiness later this year with a trenching program underway, underlining the company’s multi-commodity pipeline.
