LATIN AMERICA ROUNDUP — Orvana resumes Jamaican work

Reflecting its increased activities in Jamaica, Orvana Minerals (VSE) has opened an office in Kingston and hired additional staff.

Recently, it resumed exploring the Central Inlier property. The program will include 10 diamond drill holes totaling 2,000 ft. to test the downdip extension of a gold-mineralized zone outlined in test-pitting earlier this year.

The pitting followed the gold zone between two mineralized trenches about 400 ft. apart, returning an average grade, from 33 samples, of more than one ounce gold per ton.

Other work includes a geophysical survey over the known mineralized zone, detailed geochemical mapping over a strike length of 1.5 miles and a base line environmental survey.

Meanwhile, at Orvana’s Alabama gold project, Placer Dome (TSE) is dropping its right to earn a 75% interest.

Placer has completed a 6-hole program as well as about 1,000 ft. of trenching. The best intersections included 930 parts per billion gold over 15 ft. in Hole 2, 248 p.p.b. over 90 ft. in Hole 4 and 365 p.p.b. over 30 ft. in Hole 5.
