Director John Lecky and major shareholder John Pope loaded up on shares of Hillsborough Resources (TSE) in September. Lecky bought 356,361 shares of the mining contractor for $2.28 to hold 1.32 million indirectly. Pope, holder of more than 10%, bought 1.38 million for $2.10 and $2.28 to hold 1.38 million indirectly.
Meanwhile, Alan Smith sold 1.02 million for $2.10 to hold none. Hillsborough is one of the largest mining contractors in Canada and also owns the Quinsam coal mine on Vancouver Island, B.C., and a 20% interest in the Sa Dena Hes zinc-lead-silver mine in the Yukon. The company recently signed a joint venture agreement with a Mexican concern to provide mine engineering and development services.

Biron Bay Resources (ASE) — Alexander Po, director, exercised 100,000 options for 35 cents, then sold 7,000 for 90 cents-$1 to hold 99,000. BMR Gold (TSE) — Brant Little, vice-president, sold 26,000 for 58-61 cents to hold 4,600.
Dayton Mining (TSE) — Paul Dircksen, director, sold 7,500 for $3.50 to hold 22,800.
Fairfield Minerals (TSE) — J.H. Farris, director, bought 30,000 privately for $1.12 to hold 37,000. Owen Hairsine bought 40,000 privately for $1.12 to hold 40,000 indirectly. John Stollery, president, bought 200,000 privately for $1.12 to hold 10,000 directly and 200,000 indirectly.
Franco-Nevada Mining (TSE) — Robert Luba, officer, sold 2,400 for $30 to hold 30,600.
Glamis Gold (TSE) — Allen Rovig, president, sold 5,000 for $4.47 to hold 34,000.
Glencairn Explorations (ASE) — Robert Peereboom, director and holder of more than 10%, bought 105,000 privately for 12 cents to hold 840,000. Laurence Stephenson, director, exercised 50,000 options for 20 cents, bought 70,000 for 21 cents and sold 35,000 for 21 cents and 30 cents to hold 195,000. Holcorp Mines (CDN) — Brookline Minerals (VSE) acquired 8.74 million for 25 cents, pursuant to a takeover bid, to hold 8.74 million.
Kokanee Explorations (VSE) — Contrary to a previous report (T.N.M., Oct. 5/92), President John Stypula bought 46,600 for $3.10-3.25 and sold 4,000 for $3.15 to hold 412,000.
Pegasus Gold (TSE) — James Moore, holder of more than 10%, sold 7,000 for US$17.25 to hold 9,042.
Pure Gold Resources (TSE) — Neil Baker, director, bought 250,000 shares privately for 3 cents and then sold 204,000 for 10-14 cents to hold 36,000. Rhonda Mining (ASE) — Peter Gummer, president, sold 5,000 for $4.80-5.25 to hold 34,800.
