Metal snips (June 08, 1987)

The Canadian Steel Service Centre Institute reports a positive mood among its members. Results of a recent survey indicate 35% of the membership is bullish on further increases in business activity, while 59% expects business to remain at the current level. The first four months of this year witnessed rising steel-shipping levels.

European zinc producers Boliden, Outokumpu, Penarroya, Preussag and Vieille Montagne have launched a joint study of the optimization of their mining and metallurgical capacities, a study which may lead, if the conclusions are positive, to a consolidation within the European industry, states a Union Miniere release.
