DIAMOND NEWS ROUNDUP — Poplar eyes Swedish diamonds

By teaming up with Alcaston Mining of Australia, Poplar Resources (PPX-V) will acquire additional financial and technical clout as it searches for diamonds in northern Sweden.

The companies plan to combine their interests and expertise to further mutual interests in the country. Alcaston and Poplar have applications pending for the same general area, which covers the northern half of Sweden (about 270,000 sq. km).

A till-And-stream sampling program will be completed by Poplar in September, at which point the two companies will begin contributing equally to a joint-Venture partnership.

Several Canadian and international companies are exploring for diamonds in Sweden and in other parts of the Baltic Shield. In addition to the Swedish project, Poplar holds significant interests in projects in Finland and Norway.
