Drilling at the Samarskoye project, 40 miles north of Karaganda in central Kazakhstan, continues to deliver copper-gold values for Kazakhstan Minerals (KMC-T).
Five rigs are drilling off a large porphyry system at the property, and the company now believes it has two distinct copper-gold deposits, rather than the eastern and western limb of one deposit.
Work to date has concentrated on the Western zone, which is described as a complex north-south-trending breccia structure containing high-grade copper-gold zones.
Development drilling on this zone will attempt to develop a more complete picture of the geometry of the high-grade breccia zones.
The company describes the Eastern zone as a classic porphyry copper system, and drilling here will concentrate on defining a near-surface reserve, as well as testing for possible connections between the two zones.
Kazakhstan Minerals has a 50% interest in the property under a joint-venture agreement. In return, it must complete a feasibility study as well as arrange project financing.
