NEWS ROUNDUP — Unit of Mazarin affiliate to close

The indefinite suspension of the BC-Beaver operation — one of three units operated by LAB Chrysotile — will not affect the earnings of affiliated Societe d’Exploration Miniere Mazarin (ME).

The suspension, resulting from an inability to produce asbestos at competitive prices, will take effect by the end of May. Despite the closure, Mazarin says the unit will conduct extensive drilling this summer in order to define economically exploitable reserves of asbestos.
