Guest speaker at the Dec. 7 luncheon hosted by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum’s Toronto Branch will be Lars-Eric Johansson. Currently senior vice-president and chief financial officer of Falconbridge Ltd., he will address “Global mining competition: concerns and responses.”
Born and educated in Sweden, Johansson held successive senior posts with several companies of the Boliden group. He was appointed to his current position after Noranda Inc. and Swedish company Trelleborg acquired Falconbridge in 1989.
The luncheon will be a highlight of the Mineral Development Forum, sponsored by Ontario’s Ministry of Northern Development and Mines. The symposium, to be held Dec. 7-9 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, showcases the ministry’s research and geoscience projects.
