Williams court battle chronology

* May, 1981 — LAC geologists visit the Corona property with Corona representatives.

* June, 1981 — Corona presents LAC with exploration results from claims now hosting the David Bell mine at Hemlo.

* July, 1981 — LAC reaches agreement with the owner of the Williams property to purchase claims now hosting the Williams mine.

* October, 1981 — Corona files a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of Ontario disputing ownership of the Williams property.

* March, 1982 — Exploration drilling is under way on the Williams mine property.

* October, 1985 — Trial begins.

* December, 1985 — Williams mine enters production.

* March, 1986 — Mine awarded to Corona upon payment of $154 million plus interest. LAC appeals.

* October, 1987 — Ontario Court of Appeal dismisses appeal.

* October, 1988 — Supreme Court of Canada hears case.

* August, 1989 — Supreme Court of Canada upholds the earlier ruling and dismisses the appeal.
