Quebec recognition

Premier Robert Bourassa and Raymond Savoie, minister responsible for mines, made the presentations at a ceremony at Val d’Or, Que.

Each receiving a “prix d’excellence” were Inco Gold and Golden Knight Resources, partners in the Golden Pond gold mine in the Casa Berardi area; Rouyn Mining Resources; the Kiena mine of Placer Dome; Mines Selbaie, controlled by BP Canada; and the Vior- Mazarin group.

Also recognized was Jack Lusko, 89, a prospector who played a part in the opening of the Rouyn- Noranda mining camp in northwestern Quebec.
