A 25,000-ton bulk sample from the Francoeur mine property graded 0.197 oz gold per ton, Rouyn Mining Resources (ME) says. Rouyn and Lac Minerals (TSE) share the property near Rouyn, Que., equally.
Production from the former producing mine is scheduled to begin in July. Ryoun, the project operator, plans to use the No 6 shaft to mine reserves above the 1,450-ft level. Another shaft, located 2,000 ft northeast of the No 6, is being sunk to a depth of 2,600-ft. When completed, the new shaft will enable the project to mine at a rate of 1,000 tons per day by the end of 1989. Reserves on the Francoeur property total three million tons grading 0.213 oz.
