Good drill results from a neighboring claim has moved Ark La Tex to take another look at its Sunset Lake prospect, located 70 miles east- northeast of Yellowknife. Ark La Tex has an option to earn 60% of the property, with Silver Hart Mines holding the remaining 40%.
Exploration in 1986 discovered a zinc-lead-silver showing on the Bear No 2 claim.
About 3,000 ft northeast of this showing, drilling by Aber Resources on its adjacent property discovered significant zinc-lead-silver mineralization in the DJ No 1 claim. Aber reported two drill intersections of 23.9 ft and 24.9 ft, each of which assayed 18 to 20 oz of silver per ton with combined zinc- lead of over 15%.
Based on this data, Ark revisited the property in December and opened up the zinc-lead-zilver showing by blasting. There are good indications that the showing is the continuation of the faulted-off portion of the sulphide deposit that Aber is drilling, the company reports.
A program of line cutting, geophysics and diamond drilling is under way. Ark plans to complete the work by late February.
