Golden North

Diamond drill programs on the Nickel Plate Mountain properties of Golden North Resources Corp., near Hedley, B.C., are returning encouraging gold assays.

The programs are under the direction of Mascot Gold Mines, acting as exploration manager on behalf of Royex Gold Mining Corp. which has put up $2.5 million for the programs.

In January the Nickel Plate mine survey grid was extended eastwards to the Canty property. A 5,818-ft diamond drilling program in eight holes was carried out between Jan 23 and March 14. The objectives of the program were to confirm the presence of ore grade mineralization in the Canty Main zone and to test for extensions of the mineralized zone to the south.

The two holes designed to test the Main zone were near the north and south extremeties of the known mineralization. Hole C87-6 encountered several mineralized intervals including 11 ft grading 0.342 oz gold per ton from 86 to 97 ft and 17 ft of 0.756 oz from 170.5 to 187.5 ft.

Hole C87-8 intersected about 124 ft of well mineralized skarn containing abundant arsenopyrite between 665 and 789 ft and returned assay values averaging 0.137 oz gold over the core width.

The intergration of all the drill results on the Canty into a mine grid base is in progress. Detailed exploration drilling is planned after spring break-up.

On the Mascot fraction, which lies immediately to the northwest of Mascot Gold’s open pit, five diamond drill holes have been completed so far from 1,500 to the 4,800 levels.

These five holes represent 1,667 ft of an 18,000-ft drilling program. Nine additional drill stations have been constructed on the 4,800 level and four on the 1,500 level to drill targets within the Mascot Fraction.

The results from this program include MD-3086 which intersected 30 ft of 0.093 oz from 310 to 340 ft; 33.2 ft of 0.160 oz from 227 to 260.2 ft; and 2 ft of 0.105 oz from 104 to 106 ft.

Hole MD-3087 pulled 7 ft of 0.190 oz gold from 57 to 64 ft and 5 ft of 0.04 oz from 120 to 125 ft.

Hole MD-3088 intersected 6.2 ft of 0.076 oz from 20.3 to 26.5 ft and 4 ft of 0.069 oz from 34 to 38 ft.

Results from the Horsefly Terrier group of mineral claims, immediately to the southwest of Mascot Gold’s open pit, are expected shortly. Golden North holds a 20% net profits interest in the Horsefly group.
