The Haileybury School of Mines will be providing training and education programs in the field of mining exploration and development, utilizing courses that are being developed, over the next year, by Ontario’s Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.
The courses, being designed for full- and part-time students, prospectors and anyone employed or potentially employable in the field, will be offered both on the Haileybury campus and across the province, the ministry says.
Subjects will range from basic prospecting, through claim staking, final title and taxation, and will be available in general and specialized formats.
The training program will be set up by William Good, formerly Ontario’s chief mining recorder, and now senior policy adviser. Mr Good will meet with industry representatives and other groups to solicit their views and recommendations on course content.
