Exploration grants from B.C. government

A total of some $5 million in mineral exploration grants has been committed by the government of British Columbia to aid exploration companies.

Close to 60 companies are involved in the program. There are four for instance (Newhawk Gold Mines, North American Metals, Northair Mines and Skyline Exploration) which will each receive $100,000.

Another six companies Bulkley Silver Resources, Charlemagne Resources, Cominco, Gabriel Resources, Queenstake Resources and Corporation Falconbridge Copper will each receive $90,000.

The remainder of the grants vary from $85,000 down to $3,000, with the bulk of them in the $30,000 to $70,000 range.

The grants will be actually awarded once the various companies have completed their work and submitted required technical reports. Monitoring and evaluation of the various projects will continue until that time.
