Sulliden hits more copper-gold in Peru

Sulliden Exploration (SUE-M) has intersected additional porphyry copper-gold mineralization at its Peruvian project known as Las Huaquillas.

In the San Antonio zone, diamond drill hole 17 intersected 100.7 metres grading 0.28% copper, 0.3 gram gold and 2.6 grams silver per tonne, plus 69 metres of 0.32% copper, 0.45 gram gold and 3 grams silver and 21 metres of 0.46% copper, 0.74 gram gold and 4.9 grams silver.

Mineralization in the 401.6-metre-deep, inclined hole was intercepted between 295.8 and 396.5 metres, in massive diorite containing 5 to 10% quartz-sulphide-sericite-chlorite veinlets with locally disseminated chalcopyrite.

A soil geochemistry survey shows a well-defined copper anomaly measuring 1.6 by 1.2 km. Copper values range from 200 to 1,850 parts per million, with local gold values of up to 2,000 parts per billion.

Trenching returned 0.13% copper over 350 metres, including 0.24% copper, 0.15 gram gold and 2 grams silver over 28.6 metres.

The soil geochemistry anomaly coincides with strong induced-polarization and magnetic anomalies.

Before year-end, Sulliden will sink two more holes at the San Antonio zone and two in the zone known as El Huabo. Meanwhile, the company is awaiting assays from six holes drilled at its Los Socavones gold-silver zone.

Drilling is also testing the Cementerio zone, where four holes will be drilled in January.
