Newly listed Laverton Gold (VSE) is another Australian company actively exploring in Southeast Asia. The company has domestic mineral projects, however its main property, the Rawas gold project, is situated in south Sumatra.
Rawas is expected to produce 75,000 oz. gold equivalent annually and then scale up to 120,000 oz. per year.
The overall resource at Rawas is reported as 7.8 million tonnes of 3.65 grams per tonne gold equivalent. Within this is a reserve, minable by open-pit methods, of 3.5 million tonnes at 3.13 grams gold and 40 grams silver, equivalent to 415,000 oz. gold.
The open-pit project is expected to be commissioned late this year. The operating cost is estimated to be US$235 per oz.
