Encouraged by a new discovery on optioned property about five kilometres southeast of their Grevet zinc project near Quevillon in northwestern Quebec, VSM Exploration (TSE) and Serem-Quebec have launched a new 6,500-ft. drilling program. This latest program on the Ressources Orphee property is to be completed by year-end.
The partners said hole 90-ORP-8, part of another drilling program, intersected 4.35 metres of 12.1% zinc, 0.64% copper and 12.4 grams silver per tonne. Similar zinc and copper values (and a higher silver value) were reported (T.N.M., Nov. 5/90) for hole 90-ORP-1 drilled 100 metres east of 90-ORP-8.
VSM and French-controlled Serem have an option to acquire a 55% interest in the Orphee property. The partners also have an option to acquire a 50% interest in the adjacent (to the west) property owned by BP Resources (TSE) and Noranda (TSE) and which was drilled previously.
The partners say the Orphee discovery area is situated in the extension of the horizons hosting mineralized zones III, IV and 97 of the Grevet project. Additional discoveries are anticipated by the partners in the area between the Grevet and Orphee claims.
The partners report seven drill rigs are at work on their properties, including five rigs at the Grevet project.
