Noranda/Destiny continue drilling Windjammer bet

A Phase II exploration program valued at $787,500 is under way on the Windjammer property near Timmins, Ont. And, according to Destiny Resources, (VSE) a Vancouver junior in the Prime Capital fold, part of that program will include nearly 20,000 ft of diamond drilling to begin reserve definition on the property.

Noranda Inc. (TSE) will be the operator of the program which will also include drilling to test on-strike and down-dip extensions of two known zones of mineralization, as well as step-out exploration drilling on a number of targets in stratigraphic and geophysical environments similar to the North and South zones. The Windjammer project is a 50/50 joint venture between the two companies.

The property is located in the Harker-Holloway area approximately 120 km east of Timmins. The region has been active since the 1940s because of its proximity to the Destor Porcupine fault, a major regional structure with associated gold mineralization.

Destiny says the initial phase program, which consisted of 30,000 ft directed on the two separate gold zones some 2,800 ft apart, has indicated that significant widths of mineralization occur in both zones. Previously reported assay results from the South zone include 0.179 oz gold per ton over 19 ft, 0.287 oz over 17.4 ft and 0.272 oz over 31.2 ft. Results from the North zone include 0.199 oz over 29.6 ft, 0.150 oz over 34.4 ft and 0.157 oz over 64.3 ft.
