Maufort encouraged by drill results

A continued gold-bearing structure 141 ft in width has been intersected by drilling at a vertical depth of 1,400 ft at the Siscoe Extension project in northwestern Quebec, Maufort Resources reports.

Hole No SE-87-10 intercepted 0.16 oz gold per ton across 3.1 ft, 0.31 oz across 5 ft, 0.15 oz across 29 ft and 0.29 oz across 5 ft, all between 2,079.1 ft and 2,300 ft.

This structure, Maufort reports, is the lateral extension of the North zone cut in March which indicated several gold sections grading up to 0.18 oz on 19.4 ft, drilled at the same depth but about 100 ft westward. The structure is located in a shear zone with an injection of gold-bearing quartz tourmaline vein, typical of area mines, the company reports. Maufort is currently carrying out a 50,000-ft drilling program on the property.

The Siscoe extension project is adjacent to the Siscoe property where Maufort and Cambior Inc., in a separate development, are involved in a joint venture to rehabilitate (dewatering is under way) the old Siscoe mine.
