Gold Fields Limited

Gold Fields Ghana, a subsidiary of Gold Fields Limited, which is one of the largest gold producers in the world, has achieved full production at 300000 tons ore per month in the planned first stage of the Tarkwa open pit heap leach operation. The mine has embarked on the second phase to expand to 600000 tons ore per month. The mine also treats 250000 tons ore per annum from an underground mine through a Merrill-Crowe plant. Tarkwa open pit mine is a high volume selective mining operation where a challenging opportunity exists for the following suitably qualified professional staff.

Metallurgical Manager

The position calls for a metallurgist with extensive hands on experience in operating a successful gold heap leach operation at a senior level and with excellent understanding of computerised process control and planned maintenance systems. Merrill-Crowe and CIP experience would be beneficial.

The successful candidate’s main objective will be to implement a highly effective heap leach operation, maximising both plant recovery and utilisation.

An appropriate tertiary qualification, excellent management skills and the capability to motivate people are essential requirements. The ability to manage an on-site analytical laboratory is a further pre-requisite.

Mine Planning and Ore Resource Specialist

The position calls for a specialist in mine planning and ore resource management with excellent management and team building abilities. The successful candidate will play a leadership and specialist role in the geological and mining engineering functions and augment the motivated team already in place.

An appropriate tertiary qualification, preferably in a geological discipline, supported by proven surface ore resource management and planning skills, plus experience at a senior level, is essential. Extended exposure to the open pit production function including exposure to best international open pit mining practice are further prerequisites.

Computer literacy, including thorough knowledge of ore modelling and mine planning software is essential, also Kriging and Whittle optimisation skills, also experience on Surpac would be advantageous.

Conditions

It will be required of the successful candidates to relocate to the Tarkwa Mine, Ghana at relatively short notice. Tarkwa is located some 250 km west of the capital city of Accra and 70 km inland from the port of Takoradi.

The appointments will initially be on a two year contract, renewable on a yearly basis. A competitive package commensurate with the requirements and location, including relocation costs, is offered for this position. Married accommodation is available on site.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer

You will support our 10,000t/d concentrator, 140,000t/y copper smelter and refinery, and our 145,000t/y zinc operation. The position involves improving Division electrical and instrumentation maintenance practices with the objective of improving production results while reducing overall costs. Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance Engineering, you will cooperate with Plant Management, Shops and Services, Design and Construction Engineering, Process Technology, and Supply Chain Management.

The successful applicant will hold an Electrical Engineering degree with 5-10 years of related experience. Eligibility for membership in PEO is required. You demonstrate leadership and an ability to add value as a member of a results-driven team.

Project Manager

Winspear Resources Ltd., a diamond exploration Company whose efforts at this time are focused in the NWT, is actively seeking a Project Manager. This individual will oversee and coordinate all aspects of permitting, feasibility studies, development, and operation of advanced projects for the company including the Snap Lake project in which Winspear has the majority interest and is Operator.
