A workshop on business opportunities and private investment in China’s mining and minerals industry will be held Oct. 21 at the Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel, three months before a Canadian trade delegation to the country.
The meetings will focus on natural resources and energy, and are designed as primers for companies considering investing and making business deals in China.
A joint government-industry trade mission to the country is scheduled for the end of January.
Gordon Peeling, executive director of the Mining Association of Canada, will moderate a discussion about the mining and minerals sector. Ross Lawrence, president of the Canadian Association of Mining Equipment and Services for Export (CAMESE), will speak on mining developments in China and opportunities for equipment suppliers and service companies. Also scheduled to speak is Patrick Wayne, president of Mine Radio Systems.
A separate discussion on earth sciences is also planned.
The workshops are sponsored by several federal and provincial departments and professional associations. For more information, contact Natural Resources Canada at (613) 736-0432.
