EXPLORATION ’99 – Copperstone outlines targets

Consolidated Copperstone Resources (CCP-V) has homed in on two base and precious metal targets on its Ruedas project in Zacatecas state, Mexico.

The property is in the Altiplano geological complex, which trends in a northwesterly direction and is roughly 800 km long. The region hosts numerous base and precious metal mines, which occur as epithermal veins, skarns and replacement-style deposits.

Copperstone is focusing on two targets 20 km apart along a 150-km, northwesterly trending lineament parallel to the Zacatecas and Fresnillo-San Martin structural trends.

The first target, known as Napolera, is a 4,000-by-200-metre-wide zone of silicified, argillized and strongly fractured volcanics and sediments. Rock samples returned up to 0.033% copper, 0.026%

zinc and 1.6 grams silver per tonne, as well as mercury values of 5.21 parts per million (ppm). The zone is defined by a 2,800-by-300-metre induced-polarization anomaly. Trenching is planned.

The second target, Chupaderos, is a 750-by-200-metre zone of pervasive silicification and quartz, barite and calcite veining. Grab samples assayed up to 63.7 ppm mercury, 2,908 ppm arsenic and 711 ppm antimony. Copper oxide mineralization has been observed along fault-related fractures, and peripheral hot-springs-style opaline breccia filling and veining occur 500 metres to the north along strike.

The Chupaderos target is described as drill-ready.
