Milling operations at the Goldstream copper-zinc mine near Revelstoke, B.C., have been temporarily suspended to allow underground development to advance.
Partners Goldnev Resources (VSE) and Imperial Metals (TSE) say the shutdown was caused by two factors: slow ramp development and poorer-than-expected ore recovery in the 250-metre panel.
The 1,000-tonne-per-day facility is expected to resume in early September and continue until late January of next year, by which time economic reserves will have been exhausted.
Although previous work identified additional resources downdip from the site of current mining, the mineralization lies beyond economic mining limits.
Drilling is under way in an effort to identify additional reserves.
