Diamond drilling on Labrador properties held by Absolut Resources (ASE) began on Sept. 20. The first five drill holes, advanced on Block I, about 70 km north of the Voisey Bay discovery, have intersected disseminated to semi-massive sulphides including pyrite, pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite.
Holes 95-1 and 95-2 intersected several zones with thicknesses between 1 and 2 metres and metal concentrations up to 0.2% nickel and 0.05% copper. Cores from the other three drill holes had a similar appearance; assay results are expected in about two weeks. The targets on Block I are electromagnetic conductors, with coincident high magnetics, along the contact between an anorthosite and a gabbro. Gossans with nickel, copper and cobalt values are present as well.
Drilling has been suspended on Block I, and the drill has been moved to Block G near Tasisuak Lake, where drilling will test EM conductors in Tasiyuak gneiss. Block G is adjacent to the massive sulphide occurrence recently drilled by Dragoon Resources (VSE), Consolidated Brenzac (VSE) and Dentonia Resources (VSE).
