The Voisey Bay nickel-copper-cobalt discovery will be on the agenda of the fourth annual Cobalt Conference to held September 26-28, in Washington, D.C.
Cobalt 95: Managing for Profits in an Era of Potential Shortages and Price Volatility is the title of the conference sponsored by Gorham/Intertech Consulting, a metals and minerals firm based in Maine.
Today’s cobalt market is volatile, with potential for shortages in 1995, 1996 and beyond.
This conference will provide a global assessment of cobalt supply and demand, and strategies for buying, hedging, recovering and recycling cobalt.
Attendees will hear industry experts discuss cobalt resources in Labrador (where Voisey Bay is situated), Cuba and Mexico.
Delegates will also hear how nickel and titanium are increasingly being substituted for cobalt; the pivotal role of metal traders; and the current supply situation out of Africa.
Information on the conference is available by calling (207) 781-9800.
